About

A little about me.

My name is Karl Schwartz. I was born and raised in Alaska but have called Montana home for more than 27 years. I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Montana State University and have been teaching technology, web design, graphic design, engineering, computer animation, and photography for the past 21 years.
I started Bozeman Creative to provide graphic design services for fly shops and to share original fish and fishing-inspired artwork. Along the way, I’ve also explored other creative avenues, including product design, drafting, landscape design, and fine art. Teaching at Bozeman High School is one of my greatest joys—I’m passionate about fostering creativity, advancing technology skills, and encouraging my students to embrace art. Their talent and drive inspire me daily, and since I often encourage them to follow their dreams, I try to do the same by pursuing the work I love.

Outside of teaching and design, you’ll most often find me outdoors. If I had to choose just one hobby, it would be fishing. I’ve been fishing since I was old enough to sit in a boat, starting with salmon in Alaska before falling in love with fly fishing in Montana. Over the years, I’ve fished countless rivers and lakes across the state and have also enjoyed trips to destinations like Ascension Bay, Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Cabo San Lucas, Ixtapa, Hawaii, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Louisiana, and of course, back home in Alaska. I’ve been fortunate to catch many species along the way, but there are still plenty left on my list—which is fine, because I plan to keep fishing for life.

The best part is, fishing isn’t my only outlet. I also enjoy tying flies, building rods, creating art, hunting, skiing, and just about any excuse to be outdoors.

I may have a fishing problem—but it’s one I don’t plan to fix.

Thanks for visiting,
Karl
